A high-speed flume ride featuring uphill acceleration and river rapids while traversing the upper decks of the ship will be a key feature on Disney Cruise Line’s new ship.
The “AquaDuck” water coaster is among a number of on board facilities to be introduced on the vessel Disney Dream when it enters service in a year’s time.
A giant LED screen – more than 30 feet wide and 18 feet high – will show Disney films and other live broadcast events by one of the swimming pools.
A retractable floor extends over the pool, providing a dance floor for deck parties.
Children will have the choice of the Donald Pool, Mickey Pool or Nemo’s Reef for toddlers will all be located in the same area, on deck 11 between the forward and aft funnels.
A themed interactive sports deck, water play area, and relaxing poolside space for adults are among the other elements to feature on the new vessel.

Jan 29, 2010, Disney tours add new lines with more free time
Adventures by Disney, named the “World's Leading Luxury Tour Operator” by the 2009 World Travel Awards, has added a new line of itineraries to its list of family vacations for summer 2010.
“Known as the Gateway Collection, these itineraries provide guests with more time on their own to explore the destinations and sites at their leisure,” the company says.
In conjunction with the added time, travelers receive the benefits of Adventures by Disney's Adventure Guides who are the concierges for each trip and are available to provide recommendations and schedule reservations.
Departing in summer 2010, these itineraries feature, "Gateway to London and Paris," "Gateway to Italy" and "Gateway to Costa Rica" with dates in June, July, August and September.
"Our new Gateway Collection is ideal for guests looking for a vacation that balances just the right amount of leisure time and freedom to explore destinations on their own with the benefits of Adventures by Disney's guided tours and VIP hassle-free travel," said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line & New Vacation Operations.
All Gateway Collection itineraries feature Adventures by Disney's special touches called the "Disney Difference" and some VIP access into popular tourist attractions.
On "Gateway to Costa Rica,” for example, families will become immersed in their surroundings when they embark on a jungle cruise through Tortuguero National Park with a naturalist, exploring the many canals and rich wildlife of the Mangrove.

Jan 21, 2010, Priceline takes campaign to the stars
Priceline.com’s new ad campaign is focusing on hotel savings with a familiar face: “Star Trek’s” William Shatner is back for his 12th year.
The campaign includes TV, online and print advertisements created by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (BSSP).
The campaign is a further extension of Shatner’s run as the Priceline Negotiator, according to a company news release. This time, Shatner will be joined by a new sidekick named “Big Deal.”
“Following the success of an earlier character, No Fee, who helped The Priceline Negotiator highlight priceline.com’s elimination of airline ticket booking fees in 2007, the company created Big Deal, a new Negotiator sidekick,” says a release.
The company says “Big Deal” helps “The Negotiator” demonstrate just how big the hotel deals are at priceline.com and how easy it is to get them, among other benefits.

Jan 21, 2010, Solo cruise travelers get a break
The most hated reality for solo travelers is the "single supplement,” which Norwegian Cruise Line is addressing in its Norwegian Epic to be launched this summer.
Since cabin prices are based on double occupancy, cruise lines often charge solo travelers almost double the rate to sail alone. The higher fares have certainly discouraged single travelers, says Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Although 35 million adults have taken a solo vacation in the past three years, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) estimates only about 1 million have chosen a cruise. That's certainly an under-served market for the cruise industry.
Norwegian’s new ship features 128 Studio Staterooms designed for solo travelers.
The cabins are only 100 square feet and are all located on the inside, but they start at only $799 per week.
“In addition the Studio Staterooms have exclusive access to the Studio Lounge, where they can have a coffee or a drink, plan their day, or just enjoy meeting other solo travelers,” says the cruise line.
The Studio Staterooms on the Norwegian Epic are now on sale.
